This category of roses was created to produce large quantities of bunches of flowers as quickly as possible throughout the season , so much so that they are nicknamed “flower machines” .
Their best use is in mass plantings: rose beds, borders and groups , where they create a homogeneous expanse of flowers with a height not exceeding 80 cm . Due to the high exploitation that the plant has in producing stems and flowers continuously, short pruning is appropriate which reduces the total vegetation over 60-70% .
From a practical point of view, the same precautions used for large-flowered rosebushes can be maintained, knowing however that in Floribunda rosebushes it is possible to find many more branches and basal ramifications , a caliber of the stems lower than the Hybrids of Tea and a lower and compact:
- Eliminate dry, weak, too old and unproductive branches
- Shorten the branches by more than 2 years, preferably keeping the branches of the previous year
- Lower the plant at least 1/3 of its total height
